Seven fresh, never before seen ten minute plays will be performed this June by Cypress Productions. After a call for yet-to-be-produced short plays turned out 708 responses; We have selected just seven as a survey of what playwrights are thinking and working through, right now, as I type, as you read, at this moment. Housing, gender trouble, phone etiquette, urban planning, fascism, love, ghosts, medical taboos, you name it - we’ve got it. On June 6-8th at the Pam Miller Downtown Arts Center, there will be new plays – NOW.

SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED!

Cypress Productions is searching for new unproduced short plays to be a part of New Plays Now, our third collection of new short works.
We will be selecting 6 scripts. Selected playwrights agree to a full production of their script with a recording of one performance uploaded publicly to YouTube. Playwrights will also receive a $75 stipend.
This call is open to all playwrights, although Kentucky playwrights are encouraged to submit!
If you are on New Play Exchange please submit there instead of by email.
Submission Guidelines:
-1 submission per playwright
-10 pages or less
-Maximum of 4 characters
-Keep technical elements minimal
-A one paragraph summary of the play/logline
-No musicals
-No previously submitted scripts. Although playwrights who have submitted in the past are still encouraged to submit!
